Desktop app

Closr for Windows and Mac.

Your Closr workspace in its own window, plus what a browser tab can't do: the Note Taker records Zoom and Teams app calls directly, notifications come from your computer, and Closr can open when you sign in.

Why the app

What it adds to the browser

Record Zoom and Teams app calls

The Note Taker captures your computer's sound directly. In a browser that means sharing your whole screen with system audio ticked on Windows, and in Chrome on a Mac it isn't possible at all.

No share picker

Recording starts without the screen-share dialog, so there is no audio checkbox to forget and no silent recording. The app turns on system audio only when the Note Taker asks for it.

Keeps recording when minimised

Browsers slow down tabs in the background. The app's window isn't slowed down, so a long meeting keeps recording behind your other windows.

Notifications from your computer

Closr notifications arrive as native notifications while the app is running, with no browser push to switch on first. Closing the window keeps the app running in the tray.

Links, tray and start at login

Closr links open straight in the app, the tray menu is one click away, and Closr can start when you sign in to your computer. That last one stays off until you turn it on.

System requirements

Before you install

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11, on an x64 or Arm PC
  • macOS on a Mac with Apple silicon or Intel
  • Recording system audio on a Mac needs macOS 14.2 or later; on earlier versions the Note Taker records your microphone only
  • On Windows, system audio is everything the computer plays, notification sounds and music included
  • An internet connection: the app opens your live Closr workspace, so it is always the current version
  • Google and Microsoft sign-in open in your browser, then bring you back to the app
